Abstract

Language:

Doré slag is a secondary product of copper electrorefining anode slime treatment and consists mainly of slag formers like borax and silica, alongside metals such as Ag, Cu, Bi, Sb, and Te. This study aims to investigate the leaching of antimony (Sb) from Doré slag using nitric acid and chloride solutions. A comprehensive chemical and mineralogical analysis of the raw material, leaching residue, and leaching solution was performed utilizing techniques such as SEM-EDS, AAS, and XRD to ascertain the metal recovery and kinetics during leaching. The preliminary results indicate that while conventional grinding and flotation circuits are utilized at some plants to enrich precious metals, the routine consideration of Doré slag as a secondary raw material has not been industrially adopted. This research provides a detailed investigation of the leaching behavior of Sb specifically from Doré slag, filling a gap in the existing literature on this subject. The findings suggest potential improvements in the leaching processes and highlight the importance of exploiting valuable metals in industrial operations.
