Aluminum matrix composites (AMCs) have emerged as advanced engineering materials due to their superior mechanical and tribological performance compared to conventional aluminum alloys. In this study, hybrid AMCs reinforced with silicon carbide (SiC) and aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) are fabricated through the powder metallurgy technique, which enhances their hardness, strength, and wear resistance. The experimental process involved varying the weight percentages of SiC and Al₂O₃ to determine the optimal combination for improving mechanical properties. Results demonstrate that the addition of SiC leads to progressive increases in tensile strength, while Al₂O₃ reinforcement significantly enhances hardness and wear resistance. For instance, a maximum tensile strength of 77.56 MPa was recorded at 20 wt% SiC, illustrating a notable improvement over unreinforced aluminum. The findings indicate that these hybrid composites possess potential applications in aerospace and automotive industries, where lightweight and high-performance materials are crucial. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the mechanical behavior of AMCs, highlighting their suitability for demanding engineering applications.
