Thermal decomposition of different inorganic sulphates is studied to explore the mechanisms and kinetics involved. A variety of techniques, primarily thermogravimetry (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA), are employed to analyze CaSO4, BaSO4, FeSO4-xH2O, and Al2(SO4)3·yH2O under varying gaseous conditions. This research demonstrates how various factors, such as the partial pressure of gas components and the heating rate, significantly influence the mechanisms and kinetic parameters of decomposition. Additionally, the effects of certain additives and the initial treatment of samples on the thermal processes are discussed. Based on the findings, recommendations regarding essential precautions for thermal decomposition studies, as well as considerations for sulfur recovery, are provided. This research underlines the importance of understanding the thermal behavior of inorganic sulphates in industrial applications, thereby contributing to the development of more effective processing technologies.
