This dissertation examines sulphur formation during medium temperature leaching processes and proposes a potential method to mitigate sulphur ball formation utilizing lignosulphonate. The objective is to identify effective strategies to minimize sulphur-related issues in extractive metallurgy. The methodology involves conducting experiments to analyze the conditions under which sulphur forms and tests the effectiveness of lignosulphonate in reducing sulphur ball formation. Results indicate that lignosulphonate significantly reduces the prevalence of sulphur balls, thereby increasing the efficiency of the leaching process. This research contributes to the field of extractive metallurgy by providing insights into sulphur management and proposing practical solutions for its mitigation in industrial applications.
