The increasing demand for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their application in electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and energy storage has raised concerns about their end-of-life management and recycling processes. This review aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the current advancements in the recycling of anodes and electrolytes from spent lithium-ion batteries, highlighting recent developments in recycling technologies and methodologies. The methodology involves a systematic analysis of existing literature on LIB recycling, focusing on processes such as pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical methods, along with novel approaches that enhance recovery efficiency and material reusability. The results indicate significant progress in recycling technologies, with improved recovery rates of valuable materials such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel from spent batteries. Furthermore, innovations in electrolyte recovery processes were identified, showing promising routes for reducing environmental impacts and promoting sustainability. This comprehensive review serves as a foundational reference for future research and development in LIB recycling, emphasizing the need for enhanced policies and practices to facilitate effective waste management in the context of the rapidly growing battery market.
