Construction projects are initiated in complex and dynamic environments resulting in circumstances of high uncertainty and risk, which are compounded by demanding time constraints. The construction industry has changed significantly over the past several years, driven primarily by private investors, with an increased vulnerability to numerous technical and business risks. This necessitates a thorough risk assessment to identify and manage potential risks impacting personnel and property associated with construction projects. The study utilizes a survey questionnaire distributed among local building contractors of various sizes, complemented by a literature review to pinpoint risk factors affecting construction industry performance. By probing the behavioral pattern of construction risks through a well-designed questionnaire, the research seeks to identify and assess these risks in order to develop a comprehensive risk management framework that can be adopted by investors, developers, and contractors undertaking construction work in India.
