Ce document explore le système OBDII, qui a été introduit pour améliorer l'efficacité des véhicules et réduire les émissions polluantes. L'objectif principal est de donner un aperçu des éléments clés liés à OBDII, y compris son historique, le bus CAN, les codes et des exemples pratiques. La méthodologie adoptée inclut une analyse narrative des développements du système OBD depuis sa création par l'État de Californie en 1985, ainsi que la standardisation de la norme OBD2. Les résultats indiquent que l'intégration des calculateurs électroniques a été cruciale pour la surveillance des performances des moteurs, permettant une alerte proactive sur les dysfonctionnements via des voyants normalisés. Ainsi, OBDII a non seulement facilité l'intégration des technologies dans les véhicules, mais a également joué un rôle essentiel dans la réduction de l'impact environnemental des automobiles.
