In this study, two different samples were obtained from the Küre Copper factory, revealing that one sample contained 0.70% Cu and 0.5% Co. Initially, the sample was ground to a dimension of -100 mesh, yet the flotation yield for copper (Cu) and cobalt (Co) during collective flotation was found to be low. An attempt to grind the sample even finer at -160 mesh yielded no significant improvement in flotation results, particularly as cobalt was unable to float under the tested non-sulfurized conditions. Consequently, a novel flotation method was introduced where the samples were firstly subjected to sulfidization using H2S and H2O steam. This process significantly enriched the samples in both Cu and Co. The results indicated that the optimal sulfidization conditions led to flotation yields of 98.27% for Co and 68.07% for Cu in the optimized reactions. These findings demonstrate that while Cu can be floated at low yields from original samples, Co remains problematic under these conditions.
