Abstract

Language:

This document provides a comprehensive overview of HPC fuses, detailing their definitions, classifications, and relevant standards. The primary objective is to elucidate the operational principles and protective functionalities of fuses in both domestic and industrial contexts. Methodology includes an analysis of various national and international standards applicable to fuses, such as NFC 61-201 for domestic use and NFC 63-210 for industrial applications. It highlights the different types of HPC fuses, their markings, and their specific applications, notably emphasizing the protection against overloads and short circuits. Key results indicate that domestic HPC fuses have breaking capacities ranging from 6kA to 20kA, with a nominal voltage of 250V or 400V, cautioning against their use in industrial installations. The document also explains the construction of fuses, which include a base, a holder, and a replaceable element. Furthermore, it examines the electrical characteristics and performance parameters of HPC fuses, including pre-arc and arc durations, and their significant role in limiting current during fault conditions, thereby protecting transformers and distribution networks from thermal and electrodynamic stresses caused by severe short circuits.
