Gold flotation concentrate may contain relatively high concentrations of valuable metals such as iron, copper, and zinc, and occasionally, even precious metals such as gold. This study aims to explore a method to extract gold from flotation concentrate obtained from gold mine tailings through high-temperature smelting. The methodology involved subjecting the concentrate to oxidative roasting to convert sulfides to oxides and subsequently performing high-temperature smelting at 1600°C, adjusting the CaO/SiO2 ratio to 1.25. Results showed that gold greatly dissolved into the molten copper, indicating that the dissolution of gold increased with decreasing viscosity of the molten slag-like concentrate at elevated temperatures. This suggests a potentially effective approach for recovering gold from flotation concentrates, minimizing waste and optimizing resource use in gold mining operations.
