This thesis presents an initial electrochemical study aimed at understanding the (bio)leaching processes of chalcopyrite, a significant copper-bearing mineral. The objective of the study was to explore the electrochemical behavior of chalcopyrite in various leaching environments, assessing how different conditions affect its leaching efficiency. Methodologically, the research employed a series of electrochemical experiments, including cyclic voltammetry, to analyze the interactions between chalcopyrite and leaching agents under varied pH levels and temperatures. The results indicated a clear correlation between the electrochemical responses and the leaching performance, with optimizations suggested for the (bio)leaching process. These findings contribute to the existing knowledge of mineral processing techniques and offer insights that may improve the efficiency of copper recovery from chalcopyrite, ultimately enhancing sustainable practices in mining and metallurgy. Further investigations are recommended to expand on these preliminary findings for greater applicability in industrial settings.
