In the present scenario, the Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger (STHE) is the most common type of heat exchanger widely used in oil refineries and other large chemical processing industries, as it is suitable for high-pressure applications. Admiralty Brass has many desirable properties for thermally efficient and durable heat exchangers, but to achieve optimal efficiency and high performance, we explore the use of another material, Red Brass, which is well-known for its resistance to dezincification and stress cracking. This paper's objective is to design an STHE and analyze the temperature distribution, heat flux, and total deformation using ANSYS software, while comparing Admiralty Brass and Red Brass materials for the STHE. The analyzed heat exchanger functions as an oil cooler and comprises 90 tubes, each measuring 3300 mm, housed within a shell diameter of 323.8 mm. The results from the simulation experiments reveal that the performance and efficiency of the heat exchanger are improved when Red Brass replaces Admiralty Brass.
