During the design of Cobalt solvent extraction using Cyanex 272 as extractant, the presence of Magnesium in the solvent extraction feed solution makes the experimental procedure of Cobalt solvent design unusable. The batch counter current test is work at 100% mixing efficiency and it is impossible to take account the recycled solution from scrubbing circuit in the design of extraction circuit. Only the computer program can design this configuration. This publication gives the procedure for the design of Cobalt solvent extraction from solution containing Magnesium. This procedure uses the McCabe Thiele procedure in which the simplified thermodynamic equilibrium condition is used instead of isotherm curve.
