Abstract

Language:

A novel species of the genus Pseudomonas, designated Pseudomonas bauzanensis sp. nov., was isolated from soil at an industrial site in Bozen, South Tyrol, Italy. This Gram-negative, aerobic, motile rod, strain BZ93T, was found to grow at temperatures ranging from 5 to 30 °C. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain BZ93T shares a high similarity with Pseudomonas xiamenensis C10-2T (97.8%) and Pseudomonas pertucinogena IFO 14163T (97.4%). The predominant cellular fatty acids were characterized as C18:1v7c (54.8%), summed feature 3 (C16:1v7c and/or iso-C15:0 2-OH; 10.3%), C16:0 (9.9%), and C17:0 cyclo (7.4%). Ubiquinone 9 was identified as the major quinone, while the predominant phospholipids included phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol, and phosphatidylglycerol. The genomic DNA G+C content was found to be 61.8 mol%. Based on comprehensive phenotypic, phylogenetic, and DNA–DNA relatedness analyses, Pseudomonas bauzanensis sp. nov. is proposed, with strain BZ93T being the type strain.
