The management of mining waste is one of the major environmental problems faced by mining professionals during their activities and even after the closure of mines. This study investigates the utilization of sand waste marble dust as an additive in cement production, focusing on the effects of marble waste sand fillers substitution in cement paste and mortar at varying percentages (5, 10, 15, and 20%) compared to control samples (0%). The aggregate used is derived from a marble quarry in Fil-fila, Skikda, Algeria, specifically fine marble waste affected by adverse weather. The experimental methodology involved analyzing the properties of fresh cement paste and the mechanical performance of mortar in hardened conditions. The results demonstrate that sand marble waste fillers can effectively be used as additives in cement, contributing to the prevention of environmental pollution in regions with excessive marble production while also managing natural resources more efficiently. This approach aligns with ongoing efforts to recycle and valorize wastes in cement formulation, addressing both environmental and resource management challenges.
