In the context of a technological revolution where power efficiency is crucial, this study aims to improve power factor using an automatic power factor correction system. The methodology involves developing a system utilizing an 8051 microcontroller that reads the angle between line voltage and current, calculating the power factor, and displaying this information on a 2x16 LCD module. When the power factor is deemed inefficient, the system activates different capacitor banks to enhance the power factor and stabilize power systems in industrial, household, and other applications. The results demonstrate that the implementation of microcontrollers not only enhances the system's efficiency but also reduces costs, thereby promoting better transmission of active power and mitigating losses due to poor power factor caused by inductive loads. This innovative approach can be further enhanced by employing more advanced microcontroller technology, such as ARM or PIC controllers, for superior performance. The findings underscore the significance of maintaining an optimal power factor to improve system efficiency and reduce energy costs.
