This thesis investigates the microstructure development of complex phase (CP) steels during thermomechanical processing (TMP). The objective is to enhance the understanding of the microstructural evolution in CP steels, which typically comprise a mix of ferrite, bainite, and martensite, under specific TMP conditions. Methodologically, the research incorporates advanced techniques such as Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) to map and quantify the different phases present in the steel samples subjected to designed TMP routes. The EBSD maps are constructed to elucidate phase segmentation based on crystal structure, and metrics like grain orientation spread and aspect ratio are applied to define grain characteristics. Results indicate that the TMP routes significantly influence the microstructural composition, leading to variations in phase distribution and grain size, which are critical for determining the mechanical properties of CP steels. Furthermore, the findings provide insights into optimizing TMP parameters for desired microstructural outcomes in steel production.
