This paper presents a comparative review of process variables and anomalies that directly affect the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in copper Electrowinning (EW) processes. The KPIs under consideration are product quality, production level, and specific energy consumption. The paper describes industrial techniques used for measuring and monitoring those variables and discusses their importance for global process evaluation. The review shows that improving the measurement of electrolyte variables is crucial for quick and precise diagnosis, leading to enhanced process behavior and production. The study highlights the complexities faced by EW plant engineers, as multiple process variables interact to influence operational performance, thereby impacting the KPIs significantly. Through the analysis presented, this paper aims to underline the essential relationship between accurate measurement and optimization in the electrowinning process, ultimately contributing to more efficient and effective production methodologies in the industry.
