Abstract

Language:

Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is a metaheuristic inspired by the foraging behavior of ants that has been widely applied to solve combinatorial optimization problems. This book presents a comprehensive overview of the principles, theories, and applications of ACO. The objective is to provide researchers and practitioners with a detailed examination of ACO as a method for solving complex optimization tasks. The methodology includes the theoretical foundations of ACO, the description of various ACO algorithms, and discussions on their implementations for different problems, such as the Traveling Salesman Problem. Empirical evaluations are conducted to assess the performance of the algorithms across various scenarios. The results indicate that ACO is an effective approach, demonstrating robustness and adaptability in solving NP-hard problems. This work serves as both an introduction for newcomers to the field and a reference for experienced researchers seeking to deepen their understanding of ACO and its potential applications.
