Eregli Iron and Steel Works Company (Erdemir) operates as an integrated iron and steel manufacturing facility in Turkey, focusing on both hot and cold rolled steel production. The objective of this study is to analyze the primary and secondary steelmaking processes utilized by Erdemir, emphasizing the impact of inclusions on steel quality. Methodology involves a detailed examination of the steelmaking operations, including the usage of Linz-Donawitz converters and the chemical specifications of production materials such as aluminum dross and CaSi wire. Key findings highlight the need for strict control of non-metallic inclusions, particularly elongated sulfide types, which could compromise the integrity of welded steel products. The results show that proper monitoring and adherence to compositional standards are crucial for minimizing defects related to inclusions and ensuring the cleanliness of Grade-X steel, which is critical for its applications in bending and welding operations. This research underlines the necessity for continuous advancements in metallurgical processes to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
