In India, there is a significant energy crisis primarily due to a heavy reliance on coal for energy generation, necessitating urgent measures to conserve energy and minimize wastage. This project focuses on the utilization of waste energy, particularly heat energy, to generate useful electrical energy. The study demonstrates a model where waste heat from various sources such as automobiles and power plants can be harnessed to produce electricity through thermoelectric power generators (TEGs). TEGs function based on the Seebeck effect, converting temperature differences directly into electrical energy without moving parts, although they are generally more expensive and less efficient than traditional heat engines. The project aims to illustrate the practical applications of TEGs in power plants for additional electricity generation and in vehicles for improved fuel efficiency. By capturing waste heat and converting it to electrical power, this approach helps in alleviating the energy crisis. Future research efforts will focus on advancing thermoelectric materials and configurations to enhance efficiency and feasibility of energy conversion methods.
