This chapter provides an overview of polyphase networks, essential for understanding modern electric power applications predominantly utilizing three-phase systems. The objective is to explain the properties and analysis of polyphase systems, focusing on their unique characteristics compared to single-phase systems. The methodology includes a discussion of two-phase systems to illustrate basic concepts and the advantages of polyphase configurations, such as efficiency in conductor usage and consistent power flow. Results demonstrate that although polyphase systems can be perceived as complex, they often simplify the analysis of electrical machines and other applications. Additionally, this chapter touches upon the practical conversion between different polyphase systems and concludes with insights into per-unit systems, reinforcing their importance in power system representation and analysis.
