Abstract

Language:

This paper discusses the applications of solar energy at the 'Politehnica' University of Timişoara, highlighting its successful usage in various sectors such as individual and social building climatization, water heating, and electricity production across the European Union. The objective is to evaluate the impact and efficiency of solar collectors in enhancing energy sustainability. Methodologically, the study reviews several significant projects, including the Self-Sufficient Solar House (SSSH) in Germany, which demonstrates energy needs being met via solar means, and the Northern Solar Heating Demonstration Project (NSHDP) in Denmark, which focuses on domestic hot water production. The research reveals that solar collectors play a crucial role in energy conversion, emphasizing the importance of innovative materials and geometries to improve their efficiency and reduce costs and environmental impacts. Results indicate that solar installations can be made simpler, more efficient, and environmentally friendly, thus reinforcing the potential of solar energy as a sustainable alternative, ultimately contributing to energy savings and pollution reduction. This comprehensive examination leads to insights that can inform future research and applications in solar technology.
