Nitinol alloys are rapidly being utilized as the material of choice in a variety of applications in the medical industry. The objective of this study is to compare the biocompatibility of two ternary Nitinol alloys and to assess the influence of a ternary element using powder metallurgy (PM) and arc melting (AM) methods. The methodology included ASTM F 2129-08 cyclic polarization in vitro corrosion tests to evaluate the corrosion resistance in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) and the examination of endothelial cell growth on NiTi using optical microscopy. The findings indicate significant differences in biocompatibility and corrosion resistance between the two ternary alloys, highlighting the importance of alloy composition on performance. This study contributes to a better understanding of the biocompatibility of new Nitinol alloys and their potential applications in minimally invasive medical devices.
