Abstract

Language:

This study investigates the magnetic and structural transformations in the Heusler-based alloy Ni0.50Mn0.50−xInx within the composition range of 0.05 ≤ x ≤ 0.25. The objective is to understand the occurrence of martensitic transformations alongside the preservation of the cubic phase in the alloy for concentrations 0.165 ≤ x ≤ 0.25. Using experimental techniques, we analyze the magnetic coupling in both the austenitic and martensitic states, revealing that for the critical composition range of 0.15 ≤ x ≤ 0.16, the coupling remains ferromagnetic. Additionally, we observe magnetic field-induced structural transitions in the alloy when x is set at 0.16, which leads to a significant shift of 42 K in the structural transition temperature under an applied magnetic field of 50 kOe. These findings contribute to the understanding of the magnetic properties of Ni-Mn-In alloys and the mechanisms underlying their phase transformations.
