Abstract

Language:

The enrichment of polymetallic sulfide ore is a complex task that involves fine grinding to reveal useful minerals, which results in microparticle formation. Achieving the flotation of these microparticles poses challenges, often leading to the loss of fine useful minerals in flotation tailings. This study explores the use of water-air microemulsion (WAME) as microbubbles generated for the flotation process. The effect of WAME on flotation was examined on polymetallic ores and gold-bearing ore from Kazakhstan deposits. Results showed that incorporating WAME in the processing of polymetallic ore maintained the quality of rougher concentrates and significantly increased the extraction rates of copper and lead in the Cu-Pb flotation cycle by 7.41% and 5.98%, respectively, as well as improving copper and molybdenum extraction in the Cu-Mo flotation cycle by 5.2% and 4.7%. Furthermore, flotation gold extraction into gold-containing concentrate markedly improved, with a quality increase of 5.3 g/t and an extraction increase of 4.27% compared to conventional methods. These findings suggest that WAME could be an effective method to enhance the flotation efficiency of fine and microparticles in polymetallic ore processing.
