This study investigates the leaching of rare earth metals (REMs) from Korean monazite concentrate through systematic scientific methods. The objective is to optimize the dephosphorization and acid leaching processes using 6N HCl. The methodology involves a series of experimental conditions, including pulp density considerations and varying temperatures to achieve the desired extraction efficiency. The results indicate a satisfactory dissolution of rare earth elements, with particular emphasis on the chemical composition of the leach liquor obtained after the process. The findings reveal significant concentrations of La, Ce, Pr, Nd, and other REMs, suggesting that the acid leaching method is effective for the recovery of these valuable materials from monazite. This approach offers a potential pathway for resource recovery and emphasizes the importance of utilizing locally available mineral resources in Korea for sustainable development in the rare earth industry.
