This study investigates the leach test of radionuclides in cement-solidified waste forms, focusing on the leaching behavior of 137Cs, 60Co, and 152Eu from mortars made with natural and recycled aggregates derived from the decommissioning of the VVR-S nuclear reactor. The objective was to determine the influence of curing time, type, and size distribution of aggregates on radionuclide migration into surrounding fluids, specifically, demineralized water. A series of tests were conducted wherein mercury porosimetry was utilized to evaluate pore volume and surface area. The results indicated that the migration of radionuclides is primarily controlled by a diffusion mechanism through the pores, significantly influencing the long-term leaching behavior of the materials studied. The findings highlight the potential for recycling radioactive concrete waste as a sustainable approach to managing low-level radioactive waste, ultimately contributing to safer disposal practices and reducing environmental contamination risks. This research offers valuable insights into the stability and safety of using recycled aggregates in construction materials for radioactive waste immobilization.
