This chapter presents a comprehensive examination of autonomous inverters, which are static converters that create an alternative voltage source from a direct voltage supply. The objective is to explore the functioning principles of autonomous inverters, including their ability to set their own frequency and effective output voltage. The methodology involves analyzing various circuit configurations using ideal switches, with attention given to the practical implementations of half-bridge and full-bridge inverters. Diagrams illustrate the operation of these inverters, detailing the arrangement of components and the alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) relationships. Results show that while half-bridge inverters operate under the assumption of substantial capacitance, full-bridge inverters, although more complex, are increasingly favored in design due to their operational flexibility. This chapter highlights the significant role of diodes and the advantages of utilizing a single voltage source across both configurations. Ultimately, the study aims to deepen the understanding of autonomous inverters and their applications in energy conversion.
