Abstract

Language:

The paper presents experimental results obtained in the iron and steel industry with an own conception burner for drying and heating the steel ladles masonry, using oxygen enrichment of combustion air to intensify the combustion. The primary objective is to achieve a maximum temperature of 1200 ºC inside the refractory lining as required by refractory material manufacturers. Experimentation conducted at ArcelorMittal Galati demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed solutions, where the burner successfully reaches the necessary heating speed while adhering to thermal parameter requirements. These findings indicate a significant enhancement in the durability of the ladles wear layer, essential for modern liquid steel treatment processes. High-temperature preheating of refractory linings is crucial to minimize heat loss during contact with molten metal, ensuring longevity and performance of ladles used in steel production.
