The thickening process is critical in mining and metallurgy, particularly in enhancing the efficiency of suspension separation in various mineral processing applications. This paper aims to explore the challenges faced in the thickening process and the innovations developed to improve its effectiveness. Through empirical analysis and design improvements, especially in paste thickeners, the methodology employed focused on optimizing the process to enhance liquid removal from the pulp bed, using dewatering pickets mounted to rake arms to facilitate better liquid flow through the denser zones. Results indicated that conventional methods had limitations as the pulp bed deepened, making liquid migration increasingly difficult. The introduction of strategically placed dewatering channels proved effective in minimizing disturbances and ensuring continuous upward movement of released liquid through the pulp bed. The findings of this study illuminate significant advancements in thickening technology, offering solutions to operational challenges in paste thickening and enhancing overall processing efficiency in mineral treatment. Further exploration is suggested to refine these technologies and apply them in diverse processing environments.
