Photocatalysis is now considered an effective remediation approach to various forms of water pollution crises due to its ability to degrade and even mineralize organic pollutants into safe end products. However, the key to sustaining the technology lies in developing inexpensive, efficient photocatalytic materials. Among these semiconductor photocatalysts, Pr-based photocatalysts have been relatively underexplored. The present review discusses the features of various Pr-based photocatalysts, their preparation, performance, and modifications to enhance their degradation efficiency. Based on this, the future prospects of Pr-based photocatalysts are highlighted.
