This chapter provides an overview of the various types of primary crushing equipment utilized in mineral processing plants, specifically focusing on jaw crushers, gyratory crushers, and impact crushers. The objective is to elucidate the operational characteristics and distinctions among these crushers, which are essential for efficient ore reduction. The methodology includes a descriptive analysis of each type of crusher, detailing their operational principles, advantages, and suitability for different ore processing scenarios. Results indicate that jaw crushers operate by mechanically squeezing rock, while gyratory crushers utilize a cone mechanism for crushing, allowing for larger feed openings and greater efficiency. Additionally, impact crushers function by employing high-speed hammers to break material through impact, with product gradation being influenced by rotor speed and material friability. Overall, the chapter emphasizes the importance of selecting the appropriate crushing equipment based on ore characteristics and processing requirements.
