This dissertation explores the voltage stability and control of electrical distribution systems characterized by a high penetration of power electronic converters. The objective is to develop advanced control strategies that ensure the operational reliability and stability of these systems amid the increasing incorporation of renewable energy sources and converter-interfaced generation. A comprehensive methodology combining theoretical analysis, simulation, and practical implementation is employed to evaluate the performance of various control schemes. Results demonstrate that the proposed control strategies significantly enhance voltage stability while accommodating the unique dynamics introduced by power electronic devices. The thesis also identifies specific conditions under which voltage control can be optimized, presenting a novel framework for managing converter-dominated networks. By systematically addressing the challenges associated with high levels of converter integration, the research contributes valuable insights for future grid development and energy management strategies in the context of transitioning to more sustainable energy systems.
