This book presents the first version of 'Solar Energy: Fundamentals, Technology, and Systems,' serving as a comprehensive resource on various solar energy topics for readers, particularly those enrolled in the related Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) offered at Delft University of Technology. The objective of the book is to facilitate the study of photovoltaics (PV), encompassing its foundational principles, technological advancements, and system implementations. Methodologically, it incorporates content from three lectures taught during the academic year, with additional coverage of solar thermal applications and solar fuels. The structured approach includes detailed discussions on estimating the effects of environmental factors on PV module performance and information regarding real-life PV systems, drawing upon contributions from various experts in the field. Feedback from students is actively solicited to enhance clarity and accuracy in this initial edition, recognizing that being the first version, it may have some minor errors that need correction. This publication aims to support academic learning and promote understanding of solar energy as a vital component of sustainable energy solutions.
