Horizontal continuous casting has emerged as a significant method for manufacturing finished and semifinished products in various industries. This study investigates the microstructures of alloyed brass pipes produced through this technique, focusing on how wall thickness affects the microstructural and mechanical properties. A combination of optical and scanning electron microscopy, along with X-ray diffraction techniques, was utilized to characterize the material's microstructural features, which include porosity, phases, and morphology. The results demonstrate marked variations in microstructures across different regions of the pipe's cross-section, corresponding to the disparate solidification conditions experienced during production. Furthermore, hardness measurements indicated corresponding differences linked to these cross-sectional variations. Notably, the research reveals that changes in wall thickness exert a considerable influence on the final microstructure and properties of the brass pipes. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the relationship between manufacturing parameters and material performance, highlighting critical aspects of continuous casting operations for brass products.
