The Accelerator Transmutation of Waste (ATW) System presents a promising approach to the management and reduction of radioactive waste. This report synthesizes the efforts of the ATW Separations Technologies and Waste Forms Technical Working Group in developing a comprehensive technology roadmap. The objective was to identify and evaluate the key technologies required for effective waste transmutation and to outline a strategy for their development and deployment. A series of technical assessments and collaborative workshops were conducted to gather insights and data from various stakeholders, including scientists, engineers, and regulatory bodies. The results indicate that advancements in separation technologies and the development of novel waste forms are crucial for enhancing the safety and efficiency of the ATW process. Key recommendations include investment in pilot-scale demonstrations and the establishment of standardized protocols for waste form evaluation. By following this roadmap, the potential for successful implementation of the ATW System and the reduction of long-term environmental impacts can be substantially increased.
