Studies were undertaken to examine the copper metallurgy and casting, taking into account both the historical problems of copper fabrication as well as modern technology. Examinations were carried out on copper from archaeological sites and on copper produced nowadays as cast parts for the power engineering industry. This interdisciplinary research conducted at the Faculty of Foundry Engineering, AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow, aimed to analyze both historical and contemporary techniques for manufacturing high-quality copper castings. Investigations focused on the properties of copper and its alloys, with an emphasis on the importance of archaeological findings in understanding ancient copper production methods. By studying the structure of copper artifacts and linking these findings with modern metal refining processes, this research contributes to a deeper comprehension of historical objects and informs the best preservation strategies and technologies for producing superior copper castings.
