This paper presents an analytical and conservation study of a brass trumpet from the handcrafts collection of the Dhamar Museum in Yemen. The primary objective is to analyze the microstructure of the brass alloy to understand its composition and characteristics. Methodologically, metallographic examination and scanning electron microscopy were conducted to observe the alloy's microstructure. Results indicate that brass alloys, primarily composed of copper and zinc, exhibit notable variations in color and mechanical properties based on the respective proportions of their constituents. The study highlights essential insights into the historical manufacturing processes of brass instruments, particularly the techniques employed to achieve desired characteristics such as malleability and corrosion resistance. Furthermore, the findings underscore the significance of preserving such artifacts for cultural heritage by employing appropriate conservation techniques. This research contributes to the existing body of knowledge regarding the treatment and analysis of metal artifacts within museums, emphasizing the need for meticulous methodological approaches in the conservation of historical musical instruments.
