KiCad is an open-source electronic design automation (EDA) software that allows users to create their own printed circuit boards (PCBs). This project description, aimed at helping Makers transition from commercial software like Eagle to KiCad, highlights the software's capabilities and advantages, including its no-cost model and comprehensive functionality. The methodology includes step-by-step guidance provided at a Fablab, where participants can learn to utilize KiCad through practical exercises and documentation. Results from recent workshops demonstrate successful PCB creations by participants, encouraging them to engage in further experimentation and learning. Additionally, the document provides resources for exporting files for production in China and sharing projects under open-source licenses, enhancing collaborative innovation within the community. This guidance aims to empower users to master KiCad and undertake their own electronic design projects effectively.
