This diploma thesis investigates the microscopic characteristics of H13 tool steel produced through selective laser melting (SLM), focusing on the impact of various processing parameters. The objective of the study is to determine how different SLM conditions, such as laser power, scanning speed, and layer thickness, affect the microstructure and mechanical properties of the material. The research methodology encompasses a series of experimental tests, including metallographic sample preparation, microscopy analyses, and mechanical property assessments, to analyze the resulting microstructures. The results demonstrate significant correlations between process parameters and the evolution of the microstructure, highlighting that optimized SLM conditions can lead to enhanced mechanical properties in H13 tool steel. Additionally, the findings suggest potential pathways for improving tool steel processing methodologies within the field of mechanical engineering. Overall, this study contributes valuable insights to the understanding of SLM technology and its application to high-performance materials like tool steels.
