Abstract

Language:

Polymer science is a crucial and omnipresent field in contemporary society, prompting proposals to recognize this era as the 'polymer age.' This article discusses the established and emergent challenges within polymer chemistry, emphasizing the impact of polymers on energy, environmental sustainability, and human health. Recent advancements in polymer technology have shaped modern lifestyles, yet significant hurdles remain, including the need for green polymer practices, addressing environmental pollution, and developing polymers for energy storage and biotechnology applications. While traditional physical chemistry principles are well understood, ongoing innovations in areas such as hydrogen bonding systems, gas separation membranes, and biocompatible materials continue to evolve. The paper identifies promising research areas and highlights the relevance of polymer science to contemporary challenges, aiming to inspire further investigations that can lead to the development of sustainable solutions in various sectors.
