Mining companies with hydrometallurgical processes need to manage the effluent rich in copper and impurities to maintain operational efficiency. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of emew® technology in recovering copper from the bleed stream before its discharge to the raffinate pond. A comparative analysis was conducted using two leaching columns fed with both emew®-treated and untreated bleed streams. The methodology involved measuring copper recovery rates under controlled operational conditions. The results indicated that the emew® technology significantly enhances copper recovery, demonstrating an 8.9% increase in copper yield compared to the untreated stream. This outcome suggests that utilizing emew® technology for copper recovery not only mitigates the negative impact of impurities on leaching efficiency but also presents a viable solution for improving overall recovery processes in copper hydrometallurgy. The publication provides detailed insights on the procedures, experimental setup, results obtained, and subsequent discussions related to the advancement in copper leaching practices.
