A theoretical model has been developed to describe the flow behavior of conducting particles in a fluidized bed electrode for electrowinning of metals present in dilute solutions. The model equations address potential and current distributions, as well as mass transfer rates, providing a comprehensive analysis of the influencing operating parameters on particle growth. The investigation reveals that particle size increases with electrolysis time, demonstrating a significant correlation between operational conditions and material behavior. Model simulations were conducted and compared with existing experimental data from literature, yielding satisfactory alignments between predictions and reported findings. This study addresses the critical environmental issue of heavy metals in industrial effluent treatment, contributing to better understanding and optimization of electrochemical processes for metal recovery. The implications of these findings are vital for enhancing wastewater treatment strategies and improving electrowinning efficiencies in industrial applications.
