This thesis presents a comprehensive study on modeling and simulation of Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) circuits, which are crucial in the extraction of precious metals from ores. The objective of this research was to develop a reliable simulation model to understand and optimize the performance of CIL circuits. The methodology involved the application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to analyze the hydrodynamics and mass transfer processes within the leaching tanks. Various parameters influencing the leaching process were examined, including the effects of solid loading and fluid dynamics on the overall efficiency of metal recovery. Results indicated significant insights into the interplay between design parameters and operational conditions, highlighting the importance of accurate modeling in predicting circuit performance. Furthermore, the modeling framework established can serve as a valuable tool for engineers seeking to enhance the design and operation of CIL processes. The findings contribute to the body of knowledge in chemical engineering and offer practical implications for improving resource recovery in metallurgical operations.
