In the context of radioactive waste disposal, this study addresses the degradation of concrete containment structures due to calcium leaching from on-site water. The objective was to experimentally investigate the interrelations between accelerated calcium leaching and the creep behavior of concrete. The research involved conducting creep tests on concrete samples immersed in water, illuminating the occurrence of tertiary creep and eventual rupture attributed to leaching. A Dirichlet series coupled with mechanical damage modeling was utilized to characterize the effects of leaching on tertiary creep. The findings revealed that leaching under sustained load results in substantial changes in deformation behavior and a reduction in concrete structural integrity. Overall, this research provides insights into evaluating the longevity of concrete containment structures when subjected to combined chemical and mechanical stressors.
