This study explores the Lenk - Schnidejoch area, focusing on significant archaeological findings from a melting ice field that unveiled prehistoric and early historical artifacts, including clothing and equipment. The objective is to establish the historical relevance of this previously overlooked passage in the western Central Alps and contribute to the understanding of climate history over the last 5000 years. The methodology includes the discovery of unique artifacts, such as a birch bark object identified in 2003, followed by further explorative efforts in subsequent years. Notably, a C14 dating revealed that a found quiver fragment dated back to the late Neolithic period, approximately 5000 years ago. Multiple excursions conducted post-discovery led to the recovery of additional significant items, including a bronze needle and a Roman brooch, providing deeper insights into the historical activity in this alpine region. The findings underscore the importance of the Schnidejoch site in understanding ancient human movement across the Alps and the climatic changes that have influenced archaeological preservation in the area.
