Abstract

Language:

The rapid evolution of personal protective equipment (PPE) plays a critical role in safeguarding individuals, such as care workers, law enforcement officers, and emergency responders, from various hazards encountered during emergency situations. This review aims to explore the challenges of conventional protective clothing, which often compromise comfort, mobility, and flexibility, while seeking to present innovative solutions through graphene modification. The methodology involves an extensive literature review of technological advancements in materials used for PPE, emphasizing graphene's unique properties that enhance protective capabilities while maintaining comfort. The results indicate that graphene-modified protective clothing provides superior barrier protection against chemical, biological, and mechanical hazards without significantly sacrificing wearer comfort or mobility. By leveraging the multifunctional characteristics of graphene, this innovative approach to PPE addresses the critical drawbacks of traditional protective clothing, representing a significant advancement in personal safety attire. Such developments not only promise enhanced protection for users but also have the potential to reduce economic losses associated with occupational injuries and fatalities. This work implicates a crucial breakthrough in the design and application of protective clothing aimed at improving safety for various professionals at high risk of exposure to harmful environments.
