Abstract

Language:

Strongly correlated low-dimensional systems can host exotic elementary excitations carrying fractional charges and potentially obeying anyonic statistics. This study aims to demonstrate a universal method for sensing these quasiparticles by measuring the microwave photons they emit when transferred through a biased potential barrier. We observed that photons are emitted only at frequencies below a specific threshold related to the quasiparticle charge, providing a direct determination of the charge and evidence of the exclusion statistics. The analysis is based on the Luttinger model and is supported by universal non-equilibrium fluctuation relations that match our measurements. Our findings pave the way for exploring anyonic statistics through microwave measurements.
