Pollution of soil poses a significant threat to human health, primarily due to the infiltration of toxic substances into crops and groundwater. The study aims to assess soil pollution in Romania, focusing specifically on heavy metals, which are predominant contaminants in European soils. Emphasizing the impact of anthropogenic activities, the methodology involves analyzing the sources of heavy metals, including industrial operations, mining, and waste disposal, which contribute to environmental degradation. The results highlight the prevalence of heavy metals such as arsenic, lead, cadmium, chromium, copper, mercury, nickel, and zinc in various soil samples across Romania, indicating widespread contamination. These findings underscore the urgent need for effective soil management strategies to mitigate pollution levels and protect public health from the toxic effects of heavy metals. Awareness programs and regulatory measures are essential for reducing exposure and preventing future soil contamination events. This analysis serves as a critical reference for policymakers, researchers, and environmental stakeholders focusing on soil health and sustainability initiatives in Romania.
